Stealth Ram FAQ
1. Is the Holley Stealth Ram emissions
legal?
No it is not. It has no provisions for EGR.
Nor does it have a port for the 9th injector on the 85-88 cars.
2. Will it fit under the stock hood of my
car?
Yes on the Camaro. Yes on the Firebird.
But, it will hit the underside of the hood on the structural support. removal of
that and should be fine. Corvette, no. But,
http://www.fasterdeals.com/garageindex.html
has a new top for it..
3. Will the stock throttle body fit?
Yes. Some people have had small fitment
problems. But, you do not need the LT1 style throttle body.
4. I heard the stock fuel rails will fit.
Is that true?
Unfortunately, no they will not. Not
wide enough to go around the runner area. Also, the regulator will hit.
5. Will the existing fuel lines bolt to the
fuel rail?
Again, no. You will need to make lines to
fit to the fuel rail. There is a variety of ways to hook into the existing
lines. Chevy High Performance did a
swap and they cut the hard lines just under the car.

6. Can I run the stock cam?
Yes. But obviously would benefit more
from a larger cam, better heads, etc...
7. Can I use the stock injectors? Or will I
need bigger ones?
Yes you can use the
stock injectors. You will only need bigger ones if the motor needs it.
8. What kind of gains should I expect from
the swap?
Well it will depend on what you have
done to the engine now. On a stock type application you'll notice a considerable
gain past the 4800 RPM range. GMHTP showed a gain of 60 hp swapping from a stock
intake to the stealth ram. If you already have aftermarket intake components,
then you may see less of a gain.
9. Will the stealth ram fit Vortec heads?
What heads can I use?
Yes. The part numbers can be found on
the Part Number Listing page.
10. What about the different boss' for the
distributor clamp. Which one should I use?
The one on the driver's side sits up
about 1/8" taller than the passenger side one. So, if you are using a stock type
clamp, use the passenger side one. If you are going to use the larger RACE type
clamp, then use the driver's side. If you put the stock clamp on the driver's
side it will not hold the distributor down enough. It will allow it to jump off
the cam and skip a tooth.
11. The fuel test port
isn't the same size as the TPI. Do they make an adapter to reduce down from the
TPI -4an to the one provided with the HSR?
There is
actually a refrigeration piece you can buy that will take the place of the one
provided by Holley. It's in the Grainger catalog located
here. The toughest part is that Graingers won't sell over the Internet
without a company account, but they do have a lot of walk-in stores and this
part is probably available through many other HVAC shops.
